How to select the appropriate OEM for sleep facial mask products: key points of investigation and cooperation process

  • For cosmetics brands, choosing a suitable manufacturer of sleep facial mask is a key link for products to move from concept to market. The production capacity, quality control level, and cooperation degree of the OEM directly affect the pace of product launch and market performance. The following provides reference for brand owners from two aspects: examining and evaluating dimensions and standard cooperation processes.

1、 Four dimensions for evaluating contract factories

    1. Qualification and compliance review

The brand party shall first verify whether the OEM has a cosmetics production license, and the scope of the license includes "cream lotion" or "facial mask" categories. At the same time, check if the factory has established a quality management system, such as ISO22716 or GMPC (Good Manufacturing Practice for Cosmetics) certification. These documents are the foundation of production compliance.

    2. Observation of production environment and equipment

When visiting the factory on site, pay attention to observing the operation status of the air purification system, water treatment equipment, and filling line in the production workshop. The common dosage forms of sleep facial mask include gel type and cream type. Emulsification equipment and filling head with different viscosity are required. At the same time, check the temperature and humidity control and labeling management of the raw material warehouse to avoid cross contamination of raw materials.

    3. Confirmation of R&D and sampling capabilities

Inquire whether the factory is equipped with independent laboratories and formulation engineers. The brand can propose a specific requirement, such as "overnight wash free texture with high moisture content", and observe whether the factory can provide 2-3 samples with different skin textures within the agreed time (such as 7-10 working days). The sample should be accompanied by a composition table and basic stability test data.

    4. Understanding the Quality Inspection Process

Request the factory to provide past batches of microbiological and heavy metal testing reports. Understand the intermediate product inspection nodes in its production process, such as the three inspection steps after emulsification, before filling, and after packaging. Whether the factory has internal testing capabilities or regularly entrusts third-party organizations to conduct testing can be used as a basis for evaluation.

2、 Customized cooperation process of sleep facial mask OEM

Stage 1: Requirements Communication and Formula Selection

Brand direction: OEM provides product concept explanations, including skin feel (refreshing or moisturizing), container specifications (tube or can), target shelf life, etc. The factory recommends 1-3 basic formulas based on the existing mature formula library, and explains the composition of moisturizing ingredients and skin texture characteristics of each formula.

Stage 2: Sample making and trial adjustment

The factory produces samples according to the basic formula selected by the brand, usually providing 50-100 grams of each product. The brand organization conducted an internal trial and provided feedback and adjustment opinions on three indicators: "extensibility of application", "absorption speed", and "difficulty of cleaning the next day". The modification cycle for each round is about 5 working days, and the final formula for regular projects is determined after 2-3 rounds of sampling.

Stage Three: Signing the Contract and Determining Standards

The contract should specify: formula ownership, minimum order quantity (such as 500 kilograms or 10000 pieces), packaging material procurement method (brand self purchase or factory procurement), payment ratio (usually 30% prepayment and 70% settlement before shipment). At the same time, both parties confirm the product implementation standard number (such as QB/T 2872) and seal the standard sample as the acceptance basis.

Phase Four: Trial Production and First Batch Delivery

The factory arranges small-scale trial production, usually 10% -20% of the minimum order quantity. The brand sends personnel to conduct on-site inspections of filling capacity deviations (such as products labeled with 50 grams, with a net content negative deviation not exceeding 5 grams), sealing, and external packaging printing quality. After the trial production is qualified, formal mass production will be initiated. The production cycle is determined based on the order quantity and usually takes 20-35 working days.

Stage 5: Finished product acceptance and logistics delivery

After the goods arrive at the brand's warehouse, the brand can conduct acceptance according to sampling standards (such as GB/T 2828.1) within 7 working days. After confirming that the quantity, packaging, appearance, and odor meet the sample sealing standards, complete the final payment.

Choosing a contract manufacturer is not a simple process of comparing prices, but a comprehensive evaluation of the production system, flexibility in cooperation, and risk control capabilities. The brand can control the first cooperation order near the minimum order quantity and gradually establish a long-term cooperative relationship through actual delivery quality.
