Guidelines for OEM Cooperation of Children's Massage Moisturizing Oil: Factory Evaluation and Cooperation Process Analysis
When planning children's massage moisturizing oil products, the factory's choice directly affects the quality stability and compliance of the final product. The production requirements for children's products are higher than those for ordinary skincare products, and the brand needs to establish screening criteria from three dimensions: capability assessment, cooperation conditions, and processes.
1、 Judgment criteria for factory capability assessment
The production environment is the primary observation point. The filling workshop for children's moisturizing oil needs to have the corresponding air cleanliness level, and the factory can be required to provide a third-party environmental testing report to pay attention to whether the suspended particles and settling bacteria indicators meet the production standards of cosmetics. In terms of equipment, pay attention to the material of the homogeneous mixing tank (316L stainless steel is recommended) and its compatibility with production capacity. During small-scale trial production, pay attention to the cleaning dead corners of the equipment pipeline to avoid the risk of cross contamination.
The professionalism of the technical team is reflected in their ability to adjust formulas. A basic formula containing a variety of vegetable oils (such as sunflower seed oil and jojoba seed oil) can be provided. The factory is required to adjust the amount of antiseptic system or essence added, and observe its response speed and adjustment logic on the premise of retaining the core moisturizing effect. At the same time, inquire about the list of raw material suppliers, prioritize factories that have stable cooperation with internationally renowned raw material suppliers, and require the presentation of COA (Certificate of Analysis) and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for each batch of raw materials.
The quality management system needs to verify its actual implementation. Retrieve product type inspection reports from the past year and view microbiological and heavy metal index data. Pay special attention to whether the factory has established a safety assessment process specifically for children's products, including screening for impurities in raw materials (such as diethylene glycol, nitrosamines, and other hazardous substances) and recording migration testing of packaging materials.
2、 Key terms of cooperation conditions
The minimum order quantity (MOQ) and cost structure need to be clearly defined. Due to the special user group, it is recommended to control the first order of children's moisturizing oil within the range of 500-1000 kilograms for market testing. Request the factory to provide itemized quotations for oil raw material costs, packaging material procurement costs, processing fees (including water, electricity, and labor), testing fees, and taxes to avoid hidden costs in the later stages.
The intellectual property and confidentiality agreement should be signed simultaneously during the quotation stage. Clear ownership of the formula belongs to the brand, and the factory shall not use the formula adjustment plan for other customers. At the same time, the responsibility for the storage of packaging material molds shall be agreed upon. If exclusive bottle shapes are used, the mold storage period and compensation standards for damage shall be specified in the contract.
The division of responsibilities clause needs to be carefully considered. According to the Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Cosmetics, the quality responsibility of products produced by commission shall be borne by the registrant/filer, but the factory shall be responsible for the compliance of the production process. It is suggested to include in the quality agreement that recall losses caused by factory feeding errors or process deviations shall be borne by the factory in proportion.
3、 Standard cooperation process and timeline
The complete OEM cycle is usually divided into four stages. Phase 1 (1-2 weeks): The brand provides a product concept and target skin feel description, and the factory outputs 2-3 sample formulas based on this. Simultaneously, anti-corrosion challenge testing and stability pre experiments are conducted. Phase 2 (3-4 weeks): After determining the formula, enter the pilot scale and use large-scale production equipment to produce three batches of samples for screening six harmful substances and conducting heat and cold resistance cycling tests. Phase 3 (1-2 weeks): After the brand confirms that the testing is qualified, the formal production contract is signed and the advance payment is made. The factory arranges for raw material procurement and packaging material scheduling. Phase 4 (2-3 weeks): During the formal production period, the brand can send personnel to the factory to supervise key control points. After the filling is completed, random samples will be taken for retention, and the factory will issue batch production records and factory inspection reports.
The OEM cooperation of children's massage moisturizing oil is essentially a consensus building between the brand and the factory on safety boundaries. By conducting on-site inspections to mitigate environmental risks, clarifying responsibility attribution through clause design, and ensuring batch consistency through process control, the brand can transform product concepts into actual products on shelves within a compliance framework. It is recommended that the brand visit at least three factories in person before the first cooperation, compare the details of the testing reports with the on-site management status, and use actual data to support decision-making.
