Steps for skin care brands to cooperate with factories to produce essence cream

  • Establishing a cooperative relationship between skincare brands and cosmetics factories involves multiple aspects such as product positioning, formula communication, and production processes. A clear and orderly collaboration approach helps brands obtain products that meet expectations.

    1、 Pre preparation stage

Brand owners need to clarify their own product concept. Including the target skin type of essence cream (dry, oily or mixed), expected texture (light lotion or rich cream), packaging specification (30ml or 50ml) and estimated retail price. These pieces of information will serve as the foundational data for communication with the factory.

It is recommended that the brand prepare a product concept book, which describes in writing the expected skin sensation experience, aroma direction, and immediate state after use. Avoid using subjective sensory words and instead describe measurable physical properties, such as "no obvious stickiness within 30 seconds after application" or "no oil ring diffusion on filter paper for 24 hours".

2、 Factory screening and cooperation mode

When choosing a factory, you can verify its business license, cosmetics production license, and past cooperation cases. When visiting the factory on site, pay attention to observing the environmental conditions of the production workshop, the management of the raw material storage area, and the instrument configuration of the quality inspection laboratory.

There are two types of cooperation modes:

Incoming processing: The brand provides all or part of the raw materials, and the factory is responsible for preparing and filling them

Full package OEM: The factory is responsible for raw material procurement, formula debugging, and finished product production according to the brand's requirements

Brands that are partnering for the first time can choose a full package OEM model, leveraging the factory's raw material procurement channels and production experience to reduce upfront investment costs.

3、 Formula communication and sample confirmation

The factory provides initial formula samples based on brand requirements. After receiving the samples, the brand can conduct small-scale skin sensation tests within their own team and target user groups to collect actual feedback on product extensibility, absorption speed, and skin condition after use.

Formula adjustments usually require 2 to 4 rounds of repeated communication. After each round of adjustment, the factory provides new samples, and the brand compares the previous and subsequent versions to clarify the specific adjustment direction, such as "reducing the consistency of the paste to reduce the resistance of the product when applied to the skin" or "adjusting the fragrance concentration to dissipate the product odor within 10 minutes after application".

4、 Key points of production process and quality control

After confirming the formula, the factory arranges for trial production batches. At this stage, the following steps can be confirmed:

    Accuracy of raw material weighing

    Emulsification mixing time and speed

    Consistency of filling capacity

    Sealing integrity test

The brand can arrange personnel to stay at the factory, track the entire trial production process, and record various process parameters. This will help the brand understand the entire production process of the product and accumulate reference data for subsequent mass production.

During the mass production process, the factory operates according to established process parameters. The brand can request the factory to provide production batch records, including raw material batch numbers, weighing records, operator signatures, and quality inspection results.

    5、 Product Inspection and Release

Before leaving the factory, the finished product needs to undergo physical and chemical index testing (pH value, viscosity, heat and cold resistance stability) and microbial index testing (total number of bacteria, mold and yeast). The testing report is issued by a qualified laboratory.

After receiving the product, the brand can take samples and send them to a third-party organization for review. After both parties confirm that the product quality meets the agreed standards, the product handover procedures will be processed.

6、 Long term cooperative relationship maintenance

The brand maintains regular communication with the factory to share product sales and user feedback. These pieces of information will help both parties optimize existing products or develop new ones in future cooperation.

Establish a stable quality control communication mechanism, such as holding a quality review meeting every quarter to review data on product complaint rates, return rates, etc. Both parties will jointly analyze the reasons for data fluctuations and develop improvement measures.
