  • As a brand company, customizing massage oil is not just about choosing a factory and giving a formula. Whether the factory matches depends on qualifications, raw materials, formula verification, filing, and contract management. We suggest following the following five steps and holding a requirement review meeting before sampling, involving R&D, procurement, quality control, and legal departments.

1、 First determine the product boundary and formula requirements. The brand should clearly state the usage scenario, target skin feel, odor direction, absorption speed, packaging material form, cost range, and minimum order quantity. When managing massage oil as a cosmetic product, the promotional language should not involve medical effects or use extreme words. Formula requirements shall be documented in writing, specifying the range of acceptable and unacceptable raw materials, requirements for essence and anti-corrosion system, and control of prohibited and restricted components. Don't just communicate verbally to avoid repetition later on.

2、 Qualifications and production conditions of nuclear plants. Check the business license, cosmetics production license, and license scope, confirm the workshop cleanliness level, filling conditions, inspection capabilities, and supplier management documents. Quality system certification and recent third-party testing reports can be requested, but the reports must correspond to the intended product category. The brand needs to confirm whether the factory can complete the coordination of filing materials, batch retention and traceability. Factories with mismatched production scope are not recommended for sampling. During on-site visits, inspect the raw material warehouse, filling line, and sample retention room.

3、 Focus on raw materials and formula validation. The raw materials should have ingredient lists, INCI names, quality specifications, source documents, and compliance statements. After formula sampling, heat and cold resistance, cycling, packaging material compatibility, microbiological and heavy metal testing should be carried out; Perform skin irritation testing and safety assessment as needed. The skin feel, odor, absorption, and application sensation should be confirmed multiple times by the brand, and the differences in each version of the formula should be recorded. Do not skip stability and compatibility, otherwise leakage, discoloration, or odor changes may occur after filling.

4、 Go through filing and label review. Massage oil is usually registered as a regular cosmetic product, and if it involves special cosmetics, it should be registered as required. As the filing entity, the brand should prepare formulas, processes, safety assessment reports, testing reports, and label samples. The labels and promotional pages are jointly reviewed by the brand and legal department, and do not use medical terminology, extreme words, or unverifiable statements. Ingredient labeling, net content, usage methods, and precautions must comply with current regulations.

5、 Contract signing and batch management. The contract should clearly state the ownership, confidentiality, intellectual property rights, quality agreement, inspection standards, delivery time, sample retention period, change control, and responsibility allocation of the formula. Each batch of products must have a factory inspection report and retained samples, and any problems can be traced back to the raw materials and filling records. The brand should arrange for inspection to confirm the filling quantity, labeling, sealing, and appearance. Factory changes in raw materials or processes require written confirmation in advance.

Finding a factory to customize massage oil, the key is to include the requirements in the document, prioritize verification, and clearly define responsibilities. This way, the product can proceed according to plan and the brand can also control cooperation risks.
