  • With the gradual improvement of men's skincare awareness, the market demand for men's toners as a basic skincare category continues to expand. For many brands, choosing the OEM model to enter this field is both an opportunity and a test - the choice of factory directly affects product quality and brand reputation. The following will be explained from three dimensions: investigation and judgment, cooperation conditions, and processes.

    1、 Methods for assessing and judging factory capabilities

    1. Qualification and compliance review

    Brands can request factories to provide business licenses, cosmetics production permits (including specific licensing units), ISO 22716 and other system certification documents. At the same time, through the official website of the National Medical Products Administration or the "Cosmetics Supervision" APP, the record information and administrative penalty records of the factory's past products can be verified, which is the basic step to determine its compliance management level.

    2. Production hardware and on-site management

    When visiting factories on site, attention can be paid to the air purification level of the workshop, the automation level of the filling line, the pure water preparation system, and the configuration of inspection equipment. Simultaneously observing the temperature and humidity records, zoning markings, and pest and rodent prevention measures of the raw material warehouse can reflect the daily management level of the factory.

    3. R&D and technical cooperation capability

    The brand can bring a reference sample, and the factory technical team should evaluate the formula composition, anti-corrosion system, and skin texture data on site, and inquire about the direction of adjustment. This helps to assess their technical understanding and response speed.

    4. Small batch trial production verification

    After determining the candidate factories, the brand can pay the corresponding fees to arrange small-scale trial production, and send the finished products to third-party institutions for testing (such as microbial indicators, pH value, heavy metal content, etc.). At the same time, an internal trial team will be arranged to conduct main observation tests such as skin feel, odor, and bottle compatibility, based on the actual produced products as the basis for judgment.

    2、 Cooperation conditions and precautions

    Both parties need to clarify the following core business terms:

    Minimum order quantity: The factory has a minimum production quantity requirement for a single product, which varies greatly among different production lines. The brand should weigh it comprehensively based on their own sales expectations and warehousing capabilities;

    Price composition: It is necessary to separate raw material costs, production and processing costs, packaging procurement costs, and logistics costs, and clarify whether they include taxes and mold opening costs;

    Payment terms and payment methods: Typically, a 30% -50% deposit is required, with the remaining balance to be paid after inspection. The specific proportion can be negotiated;

    Intellectual property ownership: If the brand provides its own formula or unique raw materials, the ownership and confidentiality clauses of the formula should be clearly stated in the contract to prevent unauthorized use or disclosure by the factory;

    Scheduling cycle and delivery time: the time range from placing an order to delivery, as well as the liability for breach of contract for delayed delivery;

    After sales responsibility division: For quality problems caused by the production process (such as delamination, odor, and excessive microorganisms), the factory should bear the responsibility of rework or compensation; Any damage caused by improper transportation or storage by the brand shall be the responsibility of the brand.

    3、 Conventional cooperation process

    The complete cooperation process generally includes eight stages:

    Requirement communication: The brand direction factory submits product form, capacity, fragrance preference, target price, and estimated order quantity requirements;

    Factory proposal: The factory provides 2-3 sampling plans with reference quotes and schedules;

    Sampling and adjustment: The factory produces small samples, and the brand proposes adjustment suggestions after testing, repeating until the samples are confirmed;

    Business negotiation: Confirm terms such as price, minimum order quantity, payment terms, delivery cycle, etc., and draft a memorandum of cooperation;

    Contract signing: Formally sign the OEM contract, clarify intellectual property rights, confidentiality, quality standards, and breach of contract responsibilities;

    Packaging material stocking and production scheduling: The brand provides packaging materials such as bottles and outer boxes, and the factory arranges raw material procurement and production plans;

    Production and quality inspection: The factory completes feeding, filling, packaging, and performs factory inspection, and the brand can send personnel to follow up at the factory;

    Inspection and delivery: The brand conducts random inspections at the warehouse, confirms that it is qualified, and pays the final payment. The factory arranges for shipment.

    4、 Self preparation of brand owners

    Before contacting the factory, the brand should complete the following tasks in advance: clarify the product positioning and target user profile, complete the initial draft of bottle and packaging design, understand the price range of competitors to set a reasonable factory price budget, prepare the trademark registration certificate and the necessary documents for commissioned processing filing. The more thorough the preparation, the higher the communication efficiency, and the easier it is to obtain the factory's willingness to cooperate.
