Brand perspective: What conditions and materials are required for customizing and processing beauty creams

  • As a brand company, when we plan to launch our own beauty cream, it is common to entrust qualified factories for processing. To push this matter forward well, we need to first clarify who will be the filing person, whether the factory has a license, and whether the product information is complete. Here are four aspects to summarize.

1、 The conditions that brand owners need to possess

The brand owner needs to have a legal business license. If you are a cosmetic record holder, you should establish a quality management system and appoint a quality and safety manager who can undertake tasks such as adverse reaction monitoring, product recall, sample retention, and record management. Prepare a trademark registration certificate or authorization document, determine the product name, specifications, sales channels, target audience, budget, and minimum order quantity. Sign a commissioned production agreement with the factory to clarify the ownership of formulas, orders, quality responsibilities, packaging material supply, and after-sales processing.

2、 Qualifications to be provided by the factory

The factory shall have a business license and a cosmetics production license, and the scope of the license covers the corresponding units such as cream lotion. You can learn about its production environment, equipment, inspection capabilities, and record keeping cooperation experience. System certificates such as ISO22716 and GMPC can be used as references, but they are not the only criteria for judgment. The factory needs to be able to complete sampling, formula adjustment, filling, packaging, and factory inspection.

3、 Materials to be prepared before product launch

Ordinary cosmetics generally need to prepare: formula and raw material safety information, product execution standards, label samples, inspection reports, safety assessment reports, efficacy claims basis, etc. The label should indicate information such as product name, ingredients, usage method, precautions, registrant, production enterprise, production license number, implementation standards, and expiration date. If it involves special effects such as spot removal and whitening, it should be registered as a special cosmetic. All claims must be based on evidence and cannot use medical terminology or make false descriptions.

Suggest establishing a list of materials: main license, trademark documents, formula table, raw material submission code, execution standards, label documents, inspection reports, safety assessments, commission agreements, packaging materials, and production process documents. Confirm each version to avoid inconsistencies between the label and the recorded content. Confirm whether the product name is compliant before production, and reserve the filing number, ingredient list, and warning message position in the packaging design. If the brand does not have a quality and safety manager, it is necessary to arrange personnel with corresponding professional abilities, and the responsibility of the registrant shall still be borne by the brand.

    4、 Filing and production process

First, confirm the filing entity. If the brand is the registrant, they need to open an account and submit documents, obtain a filing number, and then reproduce. Next, confirm the packaging materials, filling, and inspection arrangements. The factory produces according to the order, completes inspection and releases. After the product is launched, the registrant should continue to monitor adverse reactions, keep samples as required, and keep records. If there are changes in the formula, label, or production enterprise, the changes should be processed in a timely manner.

When looking for a contract manufacturing factory, it's not just about looking at the quotation, but also about the qualifications, communication efficiency, quality management, and level of cooperation. The brand should prepare the business license, trademark, product positioning, quality and safety responsible person, filing materials, etc., and then negotiate the formula, packaging materials, and minimum order quantity with the factory to make progress more smoothly. Compliance is the foundation for beauty creams to enter the market and a prerequisite for long-term brand operation.
